Wendi Van Horn is a Brooklyn based interdisciplinary artist and designer exploring material purpose and its re-purpose through work in sculpture, textiles, painting, and wearable art.
Her ongoing series Loom [2024-present] explores the relationship between unwanted materials and the balance between needs and wants, bare necessity and luxury. Each piece in the series features curated tree branches repurposed as textile looms. Using unconventional materials as a means for storytelling through weaving, we can examine our relationship in the material world and ponder our definition of value.
With over 15 years designing womenswear, handbags, and textile prints, her current inspiration and research stem from the discarded materials used in fashion-making and found materials in nature.
Her work has been featured internationally through museum design stores, specialty boutiques, galleries, and private collections.
